The candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Mentor and train others throughout and seek to improve processes companywide continually.
  • Overseeing and determining timeframes for major IT projects, including system updates, upgrades, migrations, and outages
  • Analyse departmental needs, identify vulnerabilities, and boost productivity, efficiency, and accuracy to inform business decisions
  • Installs, configures, and tests operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • Managing and reporting on the allocation of the IT budget.
  • Maintain essential IT infrastructure, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email, systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware.

IT Desktop Engineer

Reporting to: IT Manager

Overview

SGB-SMIT POWER MATLA is looking for a suitably qualified IT desktop Engineer. The candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Monitoring and ensure high availability of customer’s IT infrastructure, participating in root cause analysis.
  • Managing raised IT tickets from end to end, liaising with teammates, as well as Group IT team tickets, user awareness to mitigate security risks, as well an Active Directory User Account Management, DNS, DHCP Server Management, Low-to-mid level Server administration, health checks, Maintenance, also taking part in special projects as assigned by IT Manager.
  • Ensuring Security of data, network access, and backup systems.
  • Handling and controlling the IT change management process.

Fitter

Reporting to: Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader

Department: Maintenance: Pretoria Power Plant

Overview

SGB-SMIT POWER MATLA is seeking a suitably qualified person in the role of a Fitter.  This position requires the candidate to manage mechanical maintenance as well as carry out effective fault finding on all machines/equipment. Manage the continuous improvement on equipment ensuring that critical spares are always available.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • N3/Grade 12
  • Qualified as a Fitter (Red Seal).
  • 5-10 years in a factory maintenance field.
  • Fitter/Mechanical skills in maintenance is essential.
  • Experience in Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Boilers, Pumps and Valves.

Production Winder

Reporting to: Production Team Leader

Overview

A career opportunity exists for a Production Winder within the Production Department based at the Pretoria West Power factory.

 

Job Specification

The candidate will be responsible for winding of HV coils, LV coils, MV coil and factory coils. Adherence to the Health and Safety Act is imperative, the candidate must also work according to SGB-SMIT POWER MATLA quality standards, follow procedures and instructions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Set up and preparation of winding machine and workstation.
  • Checking of insulation, formers, winding wire and other insulation required for the required type of winding.
  • Be able to read and understand winding drawings.
  • Be able to wind HV coils in spiral, helical and continuous disc style that include multiple wires in parallel.

Dispatch Operators

Reporting to: Production Section Head

Department: Dispatch – Pretoria

Overview

SGB-SMIT POWER MATLA is looking for five suitably qualified Dispatch Operators. The candidates will be responsible for fitment of radiators, bushings and other parts. Packaging of all transformer related parts into material boxes for shipment. Adherence to the Health and Safety Act is imperative, the candidates must also work according to SGB-SMIT POWER MATLA quality standards, follow procedures and instructions.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12/N3;
  • Certification in Packaging and assembling will be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience.
