Reporting to: Production Manager

Job Specifications:

SGB-SMIT POWER MATLA is looking for a suitably qualified artisan with leadership skills to lead the team. The candidate will be responsible for assisting the production foreman to manage daily production issues, supervise personnel and ensure that targets are met in line with SGB-SMIT POWER MATLA procedures and specifications. Adherance to the Health and Safety Act is imperative, the candidate must also work according to SGB-SMIT POWER MATLA quality standards, follow procedures and instructions as well as work shifts and overtime as and when required.

Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s):

  • Ability to supervise a team.
  • Ability to read and Interpret engineering design drawings.
  • Meet production and quality targets as well as on-time delivery.
  • Maintain discipline fairness according to the company code of conduct.
  • Implement best practice in the work area.
  • Develop and Implement production plans and control of expenditure within budget requirements.
  • Able to organize, coordinate and direct team activities.

Personal Specification:

  • Grade 12/N3;
  • Qualified Boilermaker or Welder with red seal;
  • First line management Qualification and experience preferred;
  • Minimum of 3 years‘ experience working in a fabrication related factory environment;
  • Ability to read and Interpret engineering design drawings;
  • Willingness to work shifts and overtime as and when required.
